Why Do People Quit High Paying Jobs? Find 10 Good Reasons

Seven out of ten times people want a high-paying job, and once their career is on the steady move, they go with the flow. However, it doesn't happen in every other case. Some people quit their high-paying job.

Yes, it sounds surprising. Why would someone leave a job when they are making a lot out of it? Well, nothing is strange in working life. Today, I will share some good reasons that make people quit a job even when they were making more than six figures from it.

Let's start unlocking ten reasons for quitting a high-paying job one by one.

1.Burn Out

It's not unusual to have a big responsibility at the top position. You wake up every other day, start your routine life and handle work pressure. Problems with high-paying jobs are that they often bring lots of responsibilities and stress. You have to manage it all on your own.

Many people are good at handling this burden every other day. Other people feel like giving up, and constant stress and pressure reduce their productivity.

Typically, burnout is a by-product of a high-paying job. As long as it is temporary in nature,  you deal with it. At some point, you realize you can't take it anymore. Thereby, you prefer your mental health over big bucks and resign from a job.

2.Child-Parent Bond

You are making money to give a wonderful life to your kids. However, it would be best to accept that many of you are unable to spend quality time with your kids. Many leave their kids while asleep and join them only at the dinner table or even after that.

Deep down, you feel bad about it. You imagine creating a solid bond with your child, but this image is only a part of the fantasy world. In reality, things are super practical. People regret this later in their lives. When they are younger, they need you. Once they grow up, you need them. By that time, they don't have time for you.

Some parents leave their high-paying jobs because they want to spend quality time with their kids in their childhood and teenage years. They know that this time will never come again.

3.Health Concerns

Stress on the job initiates health concerns. You may find it hard to complete your sleep cycle. Not enough sleep at night and work pressure in the whole day deteriorates your health little by little. This continuous cycle of restlessness eventually causes health troubles.

Once you realize the cost of working nonstop on a lucrative job is losing your health, it's the point where you will have to choose yourself.  If you don't, money won't be able to buy you peace of mind or a healthy body (especially when everything goes out of hand).

4.Too Many Working Hours

Not every person works 9 to 5; some prefer skipping that routine and catching themselves in unusual hours. Freelancers are good examples. In some jobs, you need to work nonstop for too many hours. You earn money but don't have time to enjoy or spend money on something you love.

Sooner or later, you realize you have become an ATM.  This robotic life won't bring any happiness. So, it's where you take a break and think about what matters the most.

5. Starting Your Own Business

Want to become your boss? If yes, then it's a good reason to quit your high-paying job. No doubt, a good job offers you a chance to learn and grow. Years of field experience give you the confidence to use your investment and start something that you own entirely. So, if you are taking an entrepreneurship path, go ahead.

6. Disagreements /Conflict

When you are at top positioning, you try to handle it all. Disagreements with shareholders and superiors are common. You ignore minor issues, but significant conflict turns you off about the job. A dispute leads to considerable conflict over time, and thereby, you decide to give up on a job you once love. Here is how to develop conflict resolutions skills

7. Boss

9 out of 10 times, people quit their jobs because of their bad bosses. They don't like the bad behavior of their management. They may be getting a hefty check at the end of the month, but this money isn't good enough. Some bosses are so aggressive that they undermine their employees. No one likes to be at a place where his self-respect is at stake. If you are good at what you are doing, but your boss underestimates you, you feel discouraged.

8.Family Emergency

Sometimes, you are at a point in your life when you need to give up on your dream career because the family needs your attention. You have a sick child or spouse who needs your undivided attention. You never know what will come next in your life, so you may have to make hard choices. At that time, you will choose between family and money. And primarily people go with family.

9. Moral Grounds

Many times people leave their high-paying jobs on moral grounds. They have been cashing extensive checks from a company involved in misconduct, malpractices, or criminal activities. Some companies exploit their employees and clients and try to abuse their powers. Wrong is wrong, even when it helps you earn more. Some people quit their jobs because their work is causing issues for humanity or making other people's lives miserable. You can't live with this sort of moral issue. Therefore you decide to quit.

10. Toxic Work Culture

You are getting a good sum of money from a job, but the workplace is toxic. You feel like your colleagues don't care about you. Work culture supports wrongdoings at the workplace, such as ostracism, bullying, politics, and other stuff. You have no option but to leave this place that creates an aura of negativity around you.
